About Yaakov Daniel Margol

Hey!
Good to have you here!
My name is Yaakov Daniel Margol,
let me tell you about myself.
I have circled the sun 29 times.
I live in a small village outside Jerusalem,
with my lovely wife,
Eden Rachel.
I like to stroll the streets of Jerusalem,
taking pictures of life, as it unfolds.
I love playing chess,
and enjoy balancing on a tightrope tied between trees in the forest.
It is an unusual hobby that i picked up in Mexico.
I find it highly relaxing and meditative.
Don't try it, unless you are ready to fall on your butt and get up hundreds of times.
I grew up in a home that appreciated art, especially photography.
My dad, who studied photography and art, was a big influence on me.
Painting and drawing classes in my youth, helped develop my artistic eye.
When I was 12 years young,
was the first time I held my friends camera in my hands.
I can still remember the excitement of hearing that satisfying sound of "Click" ,
and feel the curiosity of seeing what would the world look like from various compositions & angles through the lens.
Few minutes later, when unfortunately I had to give him his camera back, I knew clearly, "ONE DAY, I WILL HAVE MY OWN"
At the time, I had no idea of the blessing that will come to my life through this vessel.
It was just clear to me, that I NEED a camera.
I could have never imagined what meaning and significance photography will bring in to my future, on every level.
Emotionally, spiritually & mentally.
2012 -
For the first 8 months of Basic training in "Combat Intelligence" (מודיעין שדה - קרבי) troop of IDF, when every solider was given only 1 hour on his phone a day, I was the only solider in my platoon that was permitted to have my phone on me at all times, for 1 reason, and 1 reason only.
That's right! for the pictures.
2015
It took 2 years and 100,000 clicks, from the moment I got my own DSLR in 2015,
until I decided that I am going to try to get paid for my talent.
2017
My first Job - I was the happiest man on earth with the 100$ I made taking pictures of a party for 4 hours + 10 hours of editing.
But sweeter then the money, was the feeling of appreciation and joy from the idea that someone out there was willing to pay me money for my talent.
God granted me with many gifts, which I am truly grateful and thankful for.
Among these gifts, I often find my sensitivity, curiosity, and creativity, as my drive in the world that is behind the lens.
Add that to my love for people and my positive view & approach to life, and you got yourself a unique & distinctive photographer.
I am an observer.
I am a visual story teller.
I am a memory creator,
with an awareness and appreciation,
to the present.
